The Gold Series 13 was designed to compliment a women's unique gait for an agile uncompromising stride. The frame has been bent with a very steep, exaggerated nose and tapered tail which allows the shoes to pass by each other without changing the way you walk. The super strong TGS polyurethane decking is flexible even in extreme cold and the tubing is aircraft grade aluminum that has been TIG welded for extreme durability and maneuverability. The SPL, single pull loop, bindings are one of a kind. Made from a temperature resistant flex-polymer that molds to the shape of your foot they provide a secure lock fit without slippage from top to bottom, side to side, and uniquely, front to back. Whereas the fixed rotation system and stainless steel three claw traction systems offer increased stability and mobility even in the deepest snow or in sharp descents. This proves to offer a fluent stride with minimal effort which equals more time spent outdoors. This is my first pair of snowshoes so I have no prior experience with which to compare other manufacturers. I bought the Crescent Moon snowshoes on the recommendation of Better Homes & Gardens which gave it a top notch rating for women. The reason for buying was the exceptionally heavy snowfall we had in the Northeast this winter and I was having difficulty getting to the bird feeders (kept sinking down over knee height). These snowshoes work very well, are easy to walk in, are lightweight,and look great! I do have some difficulty getting the plastic straps to secure the back of the shoe and I would say securing them to the foot is not particularly easy. But otherwise I am very pleased with the snowshoes and would recommend them to other women. By the way I am 5' 1", weigh 117.
